SCIENCE
Science-based activities are fundamental to the organization’s goals and objectives, and are crucial to
the staff’s ability to first, understand regional biodiversity patterns and processes, and second, do what is necessary
as a conservation organization and easement holder to ensure the Ranch’s unique ecological assets are
properly and accurately cataloged. Generally, Conservancy-based science activities include facilitating
activities by external research and/or institutional partners, engaging the community through various
citizen science-focused projects, and conducting internal research. All of this enhances the staff’s
ability to manage these outstanding natural resources in perpetuity for the benefit of future generations.

Be part of something big! With 240,000 acres under its care, the Tejon Ranch Conservancy helps oversee management of one of the largest, and perhaps most historic, working cattle ranches in California. But we are more than just acres: we are research, education and exploration – we are science and stewardship – and we are discovery.
